  1. I am literally still in shock with the news. Rob, you were already a legend when you first made Sharkwater. Ive seen your films more times than I can count. You are the reason I picked my camera back up and started taking photos. You are the reason I volunteered to clean up beaches in SWFL. I will never stop spreading your message about the sea and sharks to friends family familiar faces and new ones.

Legends like you will never be forgotten #rememberrob #thesharkman

  2. I am so sorry to hear of Rob’s passing. It really hurts my heart to know that such a bright life was taken from us so soon. He took by storm the politics behind shark fins and was able to change them by the power of his determination. I am forever proud to know that I supported one of the most amazing young revolutionaries of our time. You were taken too soon and I am so so sorry that this happened. Your legacy and your strength will hopefully carry over to everything we do.

  3. I am very much heartbroken to hear that such an amazing man like you died. I haven’t even met you in person yet; I was planning to do so though. :'( Nonetheless, you will always be remembered as you will always be loved and missed. Thank you for inspiring me. I never knew I’d develop a love for the ocean and sharks as I have now. But you are truly unmatched.

Praying for your family. May you rest in peace and love, Rob. And may God’s perpetual light shine upon you. I love you.

  5. Sharkwater opened my eyes. It changed me. I learned so much about the threats to the ocean and its creatures because of Rob. The beauty and message of the film stayed with me and I have thought of it often. Rob left us too soon. My heart is broken.

  6. the worst mistake i made in my entire life is i saw his photo last month and i know he was about to experience a danger when he do things he love .But i just know how to use facebook and he doesn’t know me , how could he believe a girl that he doesn’t know , so i didn’t warn him about the danger. i am an idiot, i should have tried , oh, i should really tried . i am an idiot. It happens so fast.
i came far away from east to west and i wanna have chance to meet you , but before i have the courage to find you , you just gone.
the love of sharks and ocean deep inside of you , have influenced me when i was a little girl , just like something i ve been seeking for a long time . i follow the steps you have taken and i still lost you .
you are an amazing creature , i know why you are gone,
just come back and be a hero again, that time we will fight together.
that time i will be older than you ~~
we will wait for you ~~~i will recognize you ~~i will ~~
come back and find the ocean and sharks and us.
those who love you ,even though you have met in this life.
    but will meet next life.
warm and safe, come back ,rob.
    the fight now just began.
love you ~~ your soul will be safe.

  7. Thank you, Rob, for inspiring countless humans to understand and steward the oceans as we should. Your work will live on forever as will your fight to protect our planet. Your mission has just begun.
I first watched Sharkwater while training to be a PADI Divemaster in Thailand. No other documentary has brought me to tears and inspired me to protect our oceans like Sharkwater. I have since dedicated my life to marine science, educating people about the importance of our oceans and changing misconceptions like you so fluidly crafted together in your film.

Thank you for being such a powerful inspiration and may you glide through the ocean as a shark in your next life.

  9. I met Rob during his tour of Sharkwater in Florida and I was half. The documentary was so inspiring and emotional for me. His work inspired me to center my senior project on educating my fellow students on shark finning. I am really sad to hear of his passing. He did so much for the oceans and the sharks. I hope that his crew and family will finish Sharwater: Extinction in his place. Show the world hat even with him gone, he can still change the world.

  11. The world has lost a true hero and a brave fighter, who challenged the ruthless slaughter of sharks.
Rob is gone, but his legacy lives on forever..Thousands of people across the world will follow in his footprints and continue the fight.

  12. Rob has done so much in such a short term! For those who love the nature, for his family and all who know him, for the whole Canadian film industry – it’s an irreparable loss. Deepest condolences to Rob’s family, friends and the Sharkwater team.
