A Day in the Life of Earth wins Rob Stewart Award
Beginning in 2018, it was announced that the Canadian Screen Award for Best Science or Nature Documentary Program or Series was to be given annually in Rob Stewart’s name, with a gift of $25,000.

All three of Rob’s films  Sharkwater, Revolution and Sharkwater: Extinction  have won awards around the world, and made positive changes for sharks and the environment.

This year, the third annual Rob Stewart Award for Best Science or Nature Documentary Program or Series at the Canadian Screen Awards went to Elliott Halpern and Elizabeth Trojian for their documentary A Day in the Life of Earth.

The one-hour CBC The Nature of Things special follows scientists around the globe as they examine just how much the Earth changes in a single day. From volcanoes erupting to the movement of the sand in the Sahara Desert, to our planet hurtling through space, the world dramatically changes within the short 24-hour time span.

Rob Stewart passed away while making his third film, Sharkwater Extinction, which follows the award-winning filmmaker, biologist, conservationist and activist across four continents as he investigates the corruption behind the pirate fishing trade and illegal shark fin industry. ~Brie Davis
