The Barbel-Throat carpetshark is a rare species of carpetshark found in the South China Sea, between China and the Philippines. They are reportedly found at depths of between 183m and 190m. They grow to a maximum length of 33.5cm and are presumed to be oviparous. Very little is known about the biology and distribution of this species due to taxonomic confusion with other species of carpetshark, particularly the Saddled carpetshark.
There is not enough confirmation to assess their population health. Their conservation status is “Data Deficient.”
