About the Elongate Carpetshark

The elongate carpetshark is a species of carpetshark that may be endemic to southwestern Australia. Their actual distribution is unknown. This species is known from a single specimen that was found inside the stomach of a school shark, caught at 50 m depth.

Nothing is known about the biology of the shark, except that it is oviparous.

There is not enough confirmation to assess their population health. Their conservation status is “Data Deficient.”
