  1. Sharks have lost a man who has proven to be, perhaps, their most effective advocate. Conservationists have lost a marvelously effective communicator. I have lost a source of my own education. It’s an chilling sorrow that your life ended so soon. Thank you, Rob. You’ll be missed.

  4. Rob introduced me to what I later found out was my calling. Sharkwater first introduced me to the world of marine conservation. I was enamored by his work, and I am so grateful to had the chance to talk to him on one of his live streams. He told me ‘ Do what you love, and do it for good, lean in. These will forever be the most important words anyone has said to me. I will carry them with me throughout my life. He has taught me to dive deep in over my head, and to throw myself into what I love. He was truly the ocean warrior of this generation. The things he did for sharks will always leave a mark on me. He was so important, and we must not let his legacy fade. we need to “live like Rob lived” and continue this fight to save the ocean. Thank you Rob. Thank you so much. It was an honor to live in the same lifetime as you, and your impact on me will last a lifetime.

“There’s no surer way to have purpose than to fight for something you love. There’s also no surer way to find people you’ll end up loving than by joining in that fight.” – Rob Stewart

  6. Rob has changed my life never more so than with the news of his passing, what an amazing thing to have the good will and opinion of so many, so many strangers and close ones, …i hope i can leave ..half such a legacy.
i feel that i, as well as many others have missed out by never getting to meet him, i have never had such sleepless nights over someones welfare that i never knew.
i will volunteer and do all that i can to continue on with his legacy for our oceans and personally…i will work harder to bring more light to the world after seeing the difference that one bright soul can make.

my thoughts and love go out to you all, rob left this world in a better state than he found it..he has changed the world and we will continue on with his inspiring legacy.

  7. I’ve always loved animals and the environment, but it wasn’t until I saw Sharkwater that it became my passion and something I have tried to share with everyone I know. The first time I saw Rob sitting on the ocean floor, hugging that shark my world changed. It was the most beautiful thing, even I was shocked that these creatures were not what we were told. Rob taught me the connection between the Oceans and us, that even living in the middle of the prairies, we rely on the Oceans and we have to look after them and the beings in them. I have spread this message far, my husband who is a teacher shows his students Sharkwater and Revolution every year, and has now asked them other teachers to do the same. I vow to share this message even further now. I admire Rob as a Canadian, an amazing photographer and filmmaker and shark warrior. We all need to carry on his legacy now. To his family, my deepest condolences. He was special, he lives on in the work we all will do now. <3

  9. Rob’s work changed my life. He inspired me to pay more attention and sparked a growing interest in sharks and ocean conservation. I hold these words from his live chat close “Mother Nature should have her own rights, the environment should have its own rights”
Thank you so much Rob. The good die young, but your legacy of passion, effort, and will for change will live on through all of us.

  11. Rob’s family and friends,

I am deeply sorry for your loss.

Rob and those who contributed to Sharkwater, opened my eyes to the important role sharks play in our ecosystem. It also made me aware of how harmful the Jaws effect can be and how we must take action.

In memory of Rob and his lovingly courageous mission, I have made a small donation. I will also be re-sharing Sharkwater on social media.

    Sending healing and love.
