  1. Rob, the Blue has taken you in a final embrace, while you left us with a beautiful gift of awareness. We will honor your spirit and your work, and the sharks you loved, by sharing and defending what you showed us: the astounding beauty of nature, and the kindness of humanity fighting the perversions of our societies.

  2. Rob was a friend of mine in high school. Although I haven’t seen him since then, I always enjoyed following his career and watching him pursue something he was passionate about. So sad to hear that he is gone. Condolences to Rob’s family.

  3. I’m a Chinese high school student who is now studying at Singapore. My biology teacher introduced us about the brutal shark finning, and as I went online to do some further researches, I found sharkwater and watched it. It is an a amazingly documentary! My opinions towards sharks have totally been changed and I really admire Rob and his colleagues who have such great courage to risk their lives protecting the sharks! Additionally, I strongly agree that people should not be so proud, thinking ourselves as the smartest specie and hence kill other animals just for our selfish interests. I believe that one day our future generations will see the animals as equal to ourselves, just like we see people of different races as equal in today’s society. I feel sorry to hear that Rob has passed away, however, I believe that he is happy to give life to the work he loves so much-and I feel happy for him. Other than that,I will do my part to spread the message to my friends and never eat shark fin soup??

  5. Sharkwater is one of the most impactful films that I have ever watched. Bold. Honest. Beautifully shot. It definitely changed my perception of sharks and our ocean ecosystems in general. I hope it continues to raise awareness for many years to come. I also had a chance to read Rob’s book Save The Humans, and found it to be equally impactful and inspiring. I highly admire people like Rob that find a passion, become experts in it and build a movement around it. I can’t wait for my nephew to be old enough to watch the documentary together and get him hooked on loving and protecting our oceans! Rest in peace, Rob.

  8. Thank you Rob for congratulating me on my meeting with a very beautiful hawksbill turtle while training as an open water scuba diver. He also encouraged the love and protection of many gentle and endangered species that are rarely found in our oceans! He was such a kind, devoted and inspiring person whose heart has touched so many people.
Eternal blessings to you Rob and your family.
    Peace and understanding always!

  9. I’m heartbroken to hear about Rob, but only happy to see that he did something that he truly loved. I admired him from the moment I saw the film Sharkwater, I was about 11 years old I think. As a swimmer, I was already in love with the water, but learning and watching about how Rob treated the sharks and the oceans, I admired that so much more and have an enormous amount of love for the ocean and the sharks. I told myself that day I watched the film “I’m going to swim with sharks and Rob in the ocean one day”. Now, just because he isn’t here doesn’t mean it won’t happen. That day is yet to come, but I will go swimming with sharks in the ocean and I’ll remember why I wanted to in first place. All because of Rob. My prayers and condolences go out to Rob’s family and friends. May Rob’s work still be carried on.

  12. I cannot stress enough how proud Rob’s family should be (and probably are). He has probably done more to protect sharks than any other single person on the planet, and directly inspired me to become a marine biologist and study sharks for my Master’s degree. I vow to never let Rob’s legacy die and to work that much harder on our shared mission of protecting our life support system. May he serve as an inspiration to others to carry out his mission and fight the good fight.
