SHARKWATER 2 IS COMING!
Rob Stewart’s newest documentary takes him on a dangerous quest to find 80 million missing sharks, revealing a multi billion-dollar scandal that implicates us all in the greatest wildlife massacre ever known.
In 2007, Rob Stewart’s critically acclaimed documentary Sharkwater brought the plight of sharks for shark fin soup into the spotlight, helping to ignite the shark conservation movement. Soon shark finning was banned throughout much of the world, and many territories went FinFree and banned shark fin entirely!
But now there is a much deeper, darker and more complicated story — there are now an estimated 150 million sharks being killed every year – and scientists can only account for 70 million of those! There are 80 million sharks a year going missing – and SHARKWATER: EXTINCTION will reveal the shocking truth of where they end up — in our daily lives!
Scheduled for release in 2017 – the KICKSTARTER campaign for Sharkwater Extinction raised more than $200,000. “Each of my films have taken four years – but sharks don’t have that much time. We must act now.” Stewart’s mission is to bring light to this scandal and inspire enough outrage to stop the greatest wildlife massacre ever known. The film has support from Sir. Richard Branson, who said, “I don’t think there’s a film that’s influenced me more than Sharkwater 1, and I’m sure Sharkwater 2 will do the same for many other people.”
SHARKWATER: EXTINCTION is a thrilling and inspiring non-fiction adventure about man’s relationship with the planet’s greatest predator – the shark. This is a story of how our fear of sharks and complacency as consumers has let sharks be slaughtered and turned into lipstick, moisturizer, pet food, livestock feed, fertilizer and even fast food sandwiches – being renamed “flake,” “white fish” and “rock salmon.” With a major focus of the film being the cosmetics industry — people will be shocked to learn they’ve been smearing sharks on their faces!
